Protective Service Homemaker Program
Eligibility
Clients must be considered Adult Protective Service clients referred to the program by the Department of Human Services. Clients are referred from the Children’s Service Agency (CSA) due to neglect or need.
Goals
- Achieving or maintaining self-sufficiency.
- Preventing or remedying neglect, abuse, or exploitation.
- Preventing or reducing institutional placements through community based care.
Explanation of Services
Services are provided to elderly or handicapped adults over 18 years of age who are in danger of being neglected, exploited, or abused. The homemaker performs tasks in the home that the client is no longer able to do for him/herself. There are some elderly/handicapped adults who also benefit from the teaching, supervision, and skills development component of the homemaker service.
Number of Persons Served
A Homemaker serves 10-12 cases on a weekly basis depending on the tasks that are performed at the home.
Source of Funding
Federal funds are made available through the Tennessee Department of Human Services and Children’s Service Agency.

Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Hamblen, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Morgan, Monroe, Roane, Scott, Sevier and Union.
