East Local Workforce Development Board
Location:
The principal office of the Board shall be located at 9111 Cross Park Drive, Suite D-100, Knoxville, Tennessee 37923. The Board may have such other offices, either within or without the State of Tennessee, as the Board of Directors may designate or as the affairs of the Board may require.
Purpose:
This LWDB is established for the purpose of implementing Section 107 of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 and the Tennessee Workforce Development Act of 1999 and subsequent legislation. The LWDB and its activities should be consistent and in accordance with the Laws. The purpose of this body is to provide policy guidance and exercise oversight with respect to activities under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 and the Tennessee Workforce Development Act of 1999 and subsequent legislation, in partnership with the units of local government for the East Local Workforce Development Area. The Board is organized and shall be operated exclusively for charitable, scientific, literary and educational purposes by assisting to increase the employment opportunities, job retention, occupational skills attainment and earnings of eligible individuals, and as a result, improve the quality of the local and area wide workforce, reduce welfare dependency, and enhance the productivity and competitiveness of the LWDA listed in the following paragraph.
In furtherance of such purposes, the Board intends to operate in the East Local Workforce Development Area, established by the Governor of the State of Tennessee, encompassing Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Hamblen, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Monroe, Morgan, Roane and Scott, Sevier, and Union counties of Tennessee.
